Kevin McNamara

Chair of Governors

I’m a co-opted governor of Muxton Primary School and the current Chair. I have been a governor here since 2010. All three of my children have attended Muxton Primary School.

I co-own and run a midlands-based recruitment business and have been involved in the recruitment industry for over 20 years. This includes a number of senior management positions within public sector procurement.

Judy Bailey

Vice-Chair of Governors

I have worked as School Business Manager in both secondary and primary sector schools over the past 15 years and have in depth knowledge of financial planning and budgets. I previously worked for a National Governing Body of Sport and in Local Authority Leisure departments before transferring to the education sector.

Jenny Pritchard B.Ed. (Hons.)

I am extremely proud to be the Headteacher of such a happy, vibrant and successful primary school. Since beginning my teaching career here in 1997, I have seen the school grow and change into a very special and unique place with talented and dedicated staff working hard to secure the very best outcomes for all children.

For many years, I was the SENCo at Muxton and have a particular passion and interest in supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities.

The current leadership team includes a very skilled and committed team of governors who have a clear and ambitious vision for our school.

Matt Armstrong-Barnes B.Sc.(Hons) FIET FBCS CITP CEng

Parent Governor

I am a Director at Hewlett Packard Enterprise and have worked in the IT industry for over 20 years. I have held many senior leadership level positions in several large organisations in both the public and private sector. I hold a B.Sc.(Hons.) in Computing Science, am a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, a Chartered Fellow of the British Computer Society and a Chartered Engineer.

I live in Muxton, am a parent of two former pupils of Muxton Primary School and also have a child in key stage 2. As a result, I have had significant involvement in the school and bring a parent’s perspective. I am passionate about helping Muxton go from strength to strength as I believe that the first years of a child’s education are crucial to their later academic achievements, as well as developing social and other crucial life skills. To this end, I am also one of the 1st Lilleshall and Muxton Beaver Scout Leaders, helping young people realise their potential. I am Chair of Governors and link governor for Computing and ICT.

Wayne Jervis

Co-opted Governor

I joined West Mercia Police in 2008 as a Police Community Support Officer covering the St Georges, Priorslee and Muxton Parish.

I enjoy getting out on patrol and speaking to members of the public.

For the last few years, I have accompanied the Year 6 children at Muxton on their residential visit to the Pioneer Centre. If you see me, please feel free to stop and have a chat!

Sally Holmes BA (Hons), PGCE

Staff Governor

I am currently one of the Year 4 class teachers and I am the leader of PSHE (personal, social and health education) for the school. I have been teaching at Muxton for the past year, before that I was at another school within Telford and Wrekin. I initially completed a degree in History and Archaeology before completing teacher training.

I joined the governing body because I would like to use my experience of working in a school and my understanding of the curriculum to make a positive impact.

Matthew Cole

Co-Opted Governor

I am the Dealer Principal and Co-Director of a local motor dealership based in Telford and Shrewsbury, a position I have held for the last 12 years. Prior to this I occupied various positions in the sales department of the same company and I am now in my 30th year of employment with them.

I have lived in Muxton for 14 years and I am married with four daughters – twins who have recently graduated from University in Worcester and Chester, a step daughter who is at 6th Form at Thomas Telford and my youngest who left Year 6 in July 2019.

I joined the team of Governors at Muxton in 2017. I aim to offer an alternative view on relevant subjects using my experiences gained whilst running my own business and in my dealings with the general public.

Leah Bailey

Co-Opted Governor

I have worked within the childcare sector for 24 years. I have worked here on the site at Muxton for 18 years. Firstly as out of school provision manager, SENDCO and safeguarding lead.

In 2013, I decided to expand and invested in ‘The Learning Tree’ pre-school. The pre-school has gone from strength to strength as the main nursery provider here at Muxton Primary. The nursery provides care for children aged 2.5 years to school age, at which point most transfer to Muxton Primary. This is, in part, due to the excellent links we have built with the Early Years staff at school. Due to my background, my main interest is early years and I’m really keen to build on these relationships by being a governor and supporting the school.

Catherine Worrall

Co-opted Governor

I live in Muxton and I am the parent of two children. One of my children is a pupil in year 1 at Muxton Primary School and has autism. I would like to use my experience and knowledge of being a parent to a child with additional needs to represent children who have special educational needs at Muxton Primary School. I’m committed and passionate about ensuring that every child has access to the right education, and that their specific needs are met.

My background is in environmental science. I have BSc (hons) in Physical Geography and a MSc in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems. I have worked in both the public and private sector. I volunteered for 7 years as an assistant Cub Scout leader.
