Year 3 History Workshop

Dear Parent/Carer,

Your child will have an excellent opportunity to participate in an exciting all-day history workshop on Wednesday 10th April. This visit is planned based on our theme – the Ancient Romans.

This opportunity will bring history to life through engaging, fun and highly memorable workshops. The workshop will be based in our school, involve an array of costumes and replicas and are ideal for re-enforcing understanding of key learning topics.

It is an excellent way for the children to apply not only their knowledge through fun activities but also develop team bonding and social skills.

We hope this will be a beneficial learning experience for the children and provide an excellent writing opportunity.

Please note the school day will run as normal and your child does not need to bring anything in.

The cost of the workshop is £8.40 voluntary contribution. We need enough voluntary contributions in order for this experience to take place.

Please make payment and give consent via your child’s Scopay account under trips and events no later than Thursday, the 4th of April.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Yours sincerely,

Year 3 team

Telford Sings

The school choir took part in Telford Sings on Thursday evening. Once again they were a credit to the school displaying excellent behaviour throughout. It was wonderful to see the hard work and practice pay off as our choir really sung their hearts out.

Our choir formed a large part of the combined choir on the night and I am extremely grateful to all the parents and wider family who came to watch the performance. Thank you for transporting your children to and from Charlton school and for supporting your children with learning the words.

Thank you as well to Mr Powis and Miss Evans who became honorary members of the choir for the evening.

The choir will not take place on Thursday 21st March and will be paused for the next half-term after Easter. We are aiming for the choir to restart after the May half-term holiday.

Choir update – No choir during Summer term 1

The choir will not meet during the half-term following the Easter holidays. We hope to bring back after school rehearsals following the May half-term.

The choir will not meet next Thursday 21st March so the Telford Sings event this Thursday will be a nice way to round things off. Remember this does not mean that the choir will not be performing again this year – it is only the after school rehearsals that are being paused for now.

Telford Sings update:

  • Pupils performing and their siblings (if required) can be picked up from the school office at 3pm
  • Choir members need to stay in their school uniform
  • The school will not be able to transport pupils to and from the venue. Please ensure that you arrange transport for your child so they can arrive at Charlton School for 4pm and be picked up at 7pm.

Children can bring a packed lunch/snack with them to the rehearsal which they can have before the concert begins.

World Book Day

What a fantastic day we have all had celebrating world book day today. The costumes were fantastic, and the children have all had an exciting day filled with different activities. Year 5 had the Grand High Witch visit them as they read The Witches. Year 1 created their own dragons as they read Zog. Reception created a pirate ship. Year 2 wrote funny letters from the staff based on the book The Day the Crayons Quit. Year 4 created maps turning Muxton into a Rabbit Warren using the maps from Podkin One Ear. Year 6 plotted coordinates based on a ship wreck and Year 3 wrote diaries using their main character as a stimulus.  It was a fantastic, fun-filled day for all. Thank you for all your efforts to get costumes ready and for reading with your children and creating that love for reading.

No choir this Thursday 7th March

Due to staff absence we will not be able to rehearse after school this Thursday 7th March. There will be a rehearsal on Monday 11th March between 1:30-2:30pm. Please make sure you have signed up if you want your child to go to the Telford Sings concert on Thursday 14th March.
