A visit from Mr Jones

On Friday we are having a visit from Mr Jones who is a First Aid trainer. He will be bringing a skeleton and a variety of bones for the children to explore prior to starting to focus on the human life cycle next Monday. He will be teaching the children some facts about their bodies and a healthy life style. He will end the session with a ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ style quiz. We are sure the children will thoroughly enjoy the session and will tell you all about it on Friday evening

Homework 19.04.24

This week in phonics we have introduced oa. We have listened to the story The Goat and the Stoat and the Boat to reinforce oa words. If you google it you can listen to the story at home. Can the children think of lots of oa words? Can they write them independently?

Phonics books

When the children have filled their green phonics book it can stay at home. They only need to bring their new green book to school every day.

Just a reminder to recap their phonics each day.

We will be holding our final phonics meeting later this term.

Art Competition (in support of Dogs Trust)

As you may know every few weeks the School Council hold a School Council Surgery where all of the school community are welcome to drop in and give suggestions. These suggestions may be general suggestions or sometimes the Surgery has a specific theme which the children will come and share their ideas. Earlier this year, the School Council asked the children to suggest charities that they would like to support and Dogs Trust was suggested several times. Alison, from Dogs Trust will be in school visiting Year 5 in a few weeks time and School Council, with the help of Mrs Standish and Mrs Fowler have decided to run an Art Competition to try and raise funds for the dog welfare charity. Please see the poster image and link to the poster below for more details!

Homework 22.03.24

For the first couple of weeks of the Summer term we will be finding out about dinosaurs. During the holiday could your child visit the library to look for dinosaur books, find out some dinosaur facts and learn some of the different types of dinosaurs. They can bring dinosaur books into school to share with the class.

Happy Easter

This week we have listened to Mr Wolf’s Week, What’s The Time Mr Wolf? and Jasper’s Beanstalk. The stories have helped us with our work about time.

Can the children listen to the stories again and recite the days of the week. Do they know which days are the weekend? Can they use words like yesterday, today, tomorrow, last week, next week to talk about things they do or have done.
